Pope Francis–Personal Impressions

This is what stood out most of all for me (maybe as a harbinger of things to come) when I first  saw and heard about Pope Francis: “He rode a bus to work, wore an ordinary priest’s robe and lived with an older priest in a simple apartment where he cooked his own meals, rather than live at the luxurious residence he was entitled to as Archbishop of Buenos Aires.” (CBC Report)

The Second thing that stood out for me was when he asked the people gathered to greet him in St. Peter’s square to do him a favor, and then he asked them to say a prayer in silence over him before he blessed them. The pope then humbly bowed, St. Peter’s Square went silent, and I could feel the people in the square, and around the world praying for him.
