Pope Francis and Jean Vanier


VATICAN CITY – On the eve of meeting Pope Francis, Jean Vanier spoke about the importance of joy, tenderness and practical resistance to the “throwaway” culture.

Vanier met Pope Francis at the Vatican March 21 during a trip to Rome to mark the 50th anniversary of L’Arche, the international federation of communities he founded where people with and without intellectual disabilities live and work together. Read full article:

Cardinals and Family Ministry-Vatican Meeting


As some 150 cardinals from around the world gathered with Pope Francis to talk about the family, their two days of discussion focused particularly on three points: the Christian vision of people and family life; essential pastoral programs to support families; and ministry to divorced and civilly remarried Catholics.

Although the discussions during the Feb. 20-21 meeting were closed to the press, Jesuit Father Federico Lombardi, Vatican spokesman, gave reporters an overview of the discussions. Read more:America Magazine

Bloggers Meeting a Success

British Catholic priest and blogger, Fr. Tim Finigan, believes the Vatican bloggers meeting was surprisingly successful: He writes: “The Vatican meeting of bloggers was a great success by all accounts.
